Dr. Lara Houston is a Senior Research Fellow at the Global Sustainability Institute, at Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge campus). She investigates transformations towards sustainability, where she uses her training in feminist Science and Technology Studies to investigate how contemporary knowledge and governance regimes may be broadened to include marginalised perspectives: specifically grassroots community perspectives and those of the more-than-human world.
Currently in the Alliance for Societal Readiness (All4SR) project, she supports EU projects to include ‘all’ of society in their research and innovation visions. In the ‘Shifting actuarial mindsets’ project, she uses inventive and imaginative methods to bring the ‘voice’ of ‘nature’ into regulatory risk scenarios. Her previous projects have won the John Ziman Award twice. In short, she is interested in impact-driven projects that seek to enact change that recognises the significance of our living planet.
